Watch: England fan proposes to Australian woman during Ashes Test, wins internet

On Day 3 of the first Ashes Test between Australia and England at Gabba, an England supporter, identified by Channel 7 as Rob, proposed to his girlfriend Nat, an Australian fan, in the stands.

Rob, who had first met Nat during the 2017-18 Ashes in Australia, tried to distract Nat by pointing at themselves on the big screen before pulling the ring out.

He then went down on one knee and popped the question, to Nat's shock and amazement, all in a packed stadium.



In the video, which has since gone viral, Nat seemed taken aback by the proposal but didn’t take long in saying "yes," triggering huge applause from spectators around.

Her consent is followed by hugs and kisses. A completely-smitten Nat gives Bob big kiss, before she is lifted into the air by her love.



The entire episode was captured by Channel 7 cameras and broadcast around Australia on Friday.

The moment seemed to have been clearly set-up in advance by Rob and the TV network, as could be seen through the commentary around it.

While a visibly flattered Nat is seen processing the turn of events, the moment is projected on the scoreboard, with the text “Decision Pending”. Her nod is followed by the text “She said yes” on the screen.
