However, there’s no official reason that has been announced by the company.

Twitter is yet to officially comment about the reason for this but it does appear that the platform has performed a clean-up drive to get rid of bots and most likely dormant accounts.

This is not the first time when Twitter has performed such a clean up on its platform. Social media platforms regularly perform such clean-up exercises to get rid of bots that have been a problem of modern-day social media platforms.
