SBI is also supporting Argentina? Well their passbook suggests so
NEW DELHI: After 25 days and 62 matches, we finally have the last two teams standing in the race for the holy grail of world football - the FIFA World Cup trophy.
It's going to be a clash between two teams who have both won the trophy twice before. 1978 and 1986 champions Argentina will take on 1998 and 2018 champions France in the summit clash in Qatar on Sunday.
Argentina made a statement in their 3-0 World Cup semi-final win over Croatia and will head into Sunday's showpiece with two players back from suspension and Angel Di Maria fit and ready to face France.
That Argentina, thanks to Lionel Messi, has a massive fandom in India is not a fact hidden from any. On Indian streets, many football fans are seen wearing Argentina’s captain jersey and raising the country’s flags in the air.
Fans on the internet have also found a link between State Bank of India (SBI) and their favorite team Argentina. They are joking that SBI supports Messi’s team as the bank’s passbook photo apparently bears striking resemblance to Argentina's flag.
As a result, fans are taking to social media to show their support for Messi and Co. by tweeting images of the SBI passbook that has the same colour as that of the Argentine flag.
Some are also taking a swipe at the long lunch breaks of the SBI employees. “SBI’s lunchtime = Argentina’s Whole Match," tweeted a user. Others suggested SBI is the “official partner" of Argentina.
For Indian fans Messi and Argentina have become more of a sentimental connection. It is evident they are looking for any reason to strengthen their support for the football legend.
Many Indians would be rooting for the South American nation and would have their eyes glued to the television during the upcoming FIFA World Cup final match come Sunday.
