Rishabh Pant ended India's 2022 England tour like he began. Except that while his 146 & 57 failed to prevent India from defeat in the fifth Test at Edgbaston, the 24-year-old's brilliant, unfinished 125 (113b, 16x4, 2x6), along with Hardik Pandya's outstanding allround show (71, 55b, 10x4, and 4-24 in seven overs) helped the Men-in-Blue pull off a heist, as they beat England by five wickets, with 47 balls to spare, in the third and deciding ODI at Old Trafford in Manchester on Sunday.

Following his side's crushing five-wicket defeat, England's white-ball captain Jos Buttler was in awe of Pant for his explosive century against the hosts, calling the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman 'fearless' and great to watch in all formats.

"Rishabh is a fantastic player. What sets him apart from other players, I think, is his mentality. Rishabh is a fearless cricketer and a fantastic talent," said Buttler in the post-match press conference.

Even the fans couldn’t stop gushing about Pant’s talent and flooded the social media with memes hailing the Delhi batsman. What also caught the eye of fans was the gesture displayed by Pant in the post match ceremony, when he handed over his champagne to India’s former coach Ravi Shastri.
