According to a news report from Cricbuzz, Indian fast bowlers Jasprit
Bumrah's injury appears to be more serious than it initially appeared and he could be out for a longer period than expected. As it stands now, the India spearhead is seriously doubtful for the Indian Premier League (
IPL), set to commence in just about a month's time and run in April and May.
There is even a possibility that he will not be fit for the World Test Championship (WTC) final in the UK in June, should India qualify.
According to close sources from the Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) in India, the injured star who was anticipated to return for the IPL season for the
Mumbai Indians will also miss the top league.
Sources in the BCCI and the IPL circles have indicated that Bumrah, out of international action for almost five months, is not yet feeling comfortable and is staring at a potentially long hiatus.
The right-arm bowler last represented India in a T20 International series against Australia back in September. He was later ruled ineligible for the T20 World Cup. His omission caused the national team serious concern because India lost out on a top-tier bowling option.
The report has drawn a lot of reactions from Indian cricket team fans and Mumbai Indians fans alike. Memes erupted on social media following the report became viral.
