Surrogacy is a well known method of reproduction whereby a woman agrees to become pregnant for a purpose of gestating and giving birth to a child and who she has no right over and she's not able to raise the child, but she will have to deliver the child and hand it over to the contracting couple. Recently, Tamil Nadu power couple- actor Nayanthara and her husband director Vignesh Shivan - welcomed twin baby boys on 9th October, just four months after their wedding through surrogacy. This has sparked a major controversy, as many believed that the couple broke the provisions of Surrogacy (Regulation) Bill, which was passed at the fag end of 2021 and came into force in January 2022.
