‘Neelavelicham’ directed by Aashiq Abu, featuring Tovino Thomas in the lead role, went on floors on April 25 and the shoot of the film is happening at a warp speed. The makers have shared BTS videos, captioned, “#Neelavelicham In Production Now.” The upcoming film features Tovino Thomas, Roshan Mathew, and Shine Tom Chacko, and Rima Kallingal in lead roles. Touted to be a horror thriller, ‘Neelavelicham’ is an adaptation of Vaikom Muhammad Basheer’s eponymous short story. The short story was previously adapted on screen, in 1964, by filmmaker A Vincent. The film helmed by A Vincent titled ‘Bhargavi Nilayam’ was released in 1964. Featuring some of the biggest stars of the time including Madhu, Vijaya Nirmala, and Prem Nazir in the lead roles, ‘Bhargavi Nilayam’ went on to become the first horror film made in Malayalam. About six decades later the same short story is getting a silver screen adaptation, and the movie buffs are eagerly waiting for it.
