From Jr NTR to Brahmanandam: Telugu actors who discontinued TV after their debut

Telugu television has welcomed many popular actors who went on to rule a million hearts with their successful fiction and non-fiction shows. However, here’s a quick look at the actors who were not seen on TV right after their much-talked-about debut.

Brahmanandam made his Telugu TV debut with the comedy show The Great Telugu Laughter Challenge in which he appeared as a judge. The show also marked the debut of Tejaswi Madivada as a host. However, he got confined to movies later.

This popular actor shot to fame with television and appeared in many successful Telugu films. He tested his luck as a TV host with the show ‘Abhimani’ that invited many stalwarts like Jr NTR and their fans. Rajeev was not seen again on TV while his wife Suma Kanakala is ruling the roost in Telugu TV industry. Later, he along with Suma ventured into TV production with non-fiction shows like Luckku Kickku.

The dashing actress-turned-politician was seen as a TV host a few years ago. She made her Telugu TV debut with Get Ready but was later confined to Tamil cinema, television and TV production in the years to follow. If the insider reports are to be believed, Kushboo is likely to make her Telugu TV comeback soon.

Jeevitha succeeded actress Sumalatha as the host of the social responsive show 'Bathuku Jatka Bandi' and left a lasting impact with her controversial stint. She even made headlines for allegedly intimidating an auto driver to participate in the show. She later got busy with her movie commitments.

The yesteryear actress' TV stint has ended with her debut show 'Andamaina Jeevitham', a social responsive talk show that also featured Prabhakar and Paruchuri Gopalakrishna. Jayasudha later got engaged with her personal life and political commitments as well.

The popular actress-screenwriter made her Telugu TV debut in 2008 with the game show Bommarillu which reportedly announced a house of worth Rs. 15-20 lac house in Hyderabad as a prize money.

It has been over 12 years now and she wasn't seen on Telugu television again.

Chiranjeevi made his TV debut with the fourth edition of Meelo Evaru Koteeswarudu, the Telugu version of Amitabh Bachchan's Kaun Banega Crorepati. His TV debut was reportedly delayed for his grand comeback into Telugu cinema with Khaidi No. 150. After a few years, he was last seen in Bigg Boss Telugu season 3 grand finale as the special guest and presented the trophy to Rahul Sipligunj.

The exceptional actor indeed gave Bigg Boss Telugu season one a dream start. He has indeed set a benchmark as a host of the reality TV series. Though he didn't host the consecutive seasons of the TV series, fans would love to see him making a comeback. It remains to be seen if Jr NTR will be seen in the upcoming season of Bigg Boss Telugu.

The popular Telugu actor, who took up the challenge of hosting Bigg Boss Telugu season 2, may not come back to TV as a host any time sooner. His stint as Bigg Boss host was quite controversial and the season's TVRs (Television ratings) didn't surpass its predecessor. He appeared on Bigg Boss Telugu season 3 to promote one of his films and of late he is quite busy as a producer as well.

The ace composer indeed took fans by surprise with his TV debut. He appeared as a ‘Super judge’ in the recent season of the music reality show Super Singer which was hosted by Singer Revanth and Hariteja. Thaman was not seen in any other TV show after the conclusion of Super Singer in 2019.
