Anchor Ravi: I've had 21 backlogs that my wife helped me clear; my engineering days are my 'Happy Days' in life

Anchor Ravi, who has entertained us in Bigg Boss Telugu 5, is back to rule the roost yet again on social media. He has joined his favourite show Happy Days and the recent Sankranthi special show also witnessed him in his element. In a candid chat with ETimes TV, Ravi spoke at length about being back to his show Happy Days, co-star Ashu, his fight against online abuse and much more.

'My energy gets doubled with students around'

Excited to be back on Happy Days. I'm back in my zone. My energy gets doubled with students around. I can't explain that special vibe I share with them. I'm happy the show is getting good feedback, numbers and reach.

OMG! Those photos Ashu puts out...

Ashu is a blessing to Happy Days. Honestly, she is just beyond expectations. The value she's adding to the show is just top-class. She is irreplaceable. She'll go places in the next six months or so. And OMG! Those photos she puts out and people are liking it. Over 40-50k likes for every picture. I'm sure she knows how to connect with her followers

'They can talk anything'

Students are the celebrities in our show. Youngsters have a certain innocence and intellectuality in whatever they say. Basically, they talk from their heart and they can talk about anything. It has some craziness to it, too. They come across as bouncers at times but we know to handle them well.

'Industry needs good anchors'

Today, you have stars overnight; thanks to social media. Social media has the power to bring out the best. But everything has pros and cons to it. TV always encourages the right talent and we are trying to give them a fair chance in Happy Days as well. I've had youngsters, who came to our show, telling me that they are interested in anchoring. I feel so proud. Industry needs good anchors and I'd love to encourage them as well.

'I had 21 backlogs in engineering'

My engineering days are definitely my 'Happy Days' in life. But I had 21 backlogs and Nitya, who was also my classmate, helped me clear it. I don't take pride in that. I want everyone to study hard, focus on their talents and shine in their careers with self-belief.

'I've become thick-skinned now'

Industry has made me really thick-skinned in these 12 years. I've stopped taking negativity on social media to heart because those who truly love you would communicate to you in the right way. And you can happily ignore that trash who lives and makes a living spitting venom.

'Shooting outdoors has been different lately'

Shooting outdoors has been different lately. Everyone's around is in masks and we wouldn't know who's even greeting you. Man power has become less, but the work load and budgets remain the same. The passion and quality of work also remain the same. Kudos to the team.

My biggest fear...

My biggest fear is Viya getting affected. I shouldn't be taking the virus home. I'm taking enough precautions on the sets. Wearing masks, getting vaccinated, getting booster doses, following all the precautionary measures is very crucial but somewhere the virus is still spreading. A sign of relief is that it is not fatal this time.

What Bigg Boss taught me

Bigg Boss has taught me many things. I can keep talking about it all day. I could realise my mistakes and setbacks. It made me a better person I should say.

About fighting with online abuse...

I don't want to put it to rest. I can't reveal details about the investigation because it involves the law. I want to expose a few culprits online but I'm asked not to reveal everything on social media. There has been progress and there's a lot more to do. I want to put an end to this negativity on social media.

Fan meet on cards

Myself and Nitya are planning to meet all our fans and supporters very soon. Maybe once everything returns to normalcy because your health is important to us.
