From teaching to blood donation, here’s how Gayatri Jayaraman made the best out of the quarantine life

The lockdown due to Covid-19 pandemic has forced everyone including celebs figure out ways to cope with the sudden break.

Gayatri Jayaraman, who is seen in the show Azhagu (as Shakunthala Devi), ensured that she made the best out of the lockdown. From blood donation to teaching, here’s how she spent her lockdown break…

Blood donation

Gayatri has donated blood and encourage fans to do the same. “COVID19 has drastically reduced blood donations. Thalassemia patients requiring regular transfusions are facing a grim situation. Proud to do my bit today to help. Brilliantly organized by our community via phone calls to ensure it was done one by one with no queues, no crowds and with minimal contact (sic),” reads one of her social media posts.

Love for gardening

Gayatri is very fond of gardening at home. She grows vegetables and fruits in her terrace garden. Sharing a glimpse of it, she wrote, “Fresh vegetables from my own terrace garden = unequalled lockdown happiness! (sic)”.

Non-vegetarian for hubby dearest

Gayari loves cooking, which is also one of her favourite hobbies. In her recent social media post, Gayatri claimed that she has learnt to cook non-vegetarian recipes for her Punjabi husband and father-in-law despite being a brahmin. Sharing a glimpse of her Catla fish curry, she wrote, “When the Iyer aathu maami (a.k.a ME!) Cooks bengali style catla fish curry for the punjabi purushan and father in law....surely a pic is mandatory! (sic)”

Gayatri is an expert at baking, too. She enjoys making fresh home-made cakes. Sharing a picture of her carrot cake, she wrote, “Carrot cake fresh out of my oven!! Yum yum!!! (sic)”

Staying fit and fab

Gayatri is a fitness freak. Though the gyms are shut, she kept herself fit with home workouts. She wrote, “Early morning workouts are the best! So energized! A great squats,pushups, situps and leg raises circuit followed by a super 6km walk !! (sic)”

Channelising the inner artist

Gayatri channelised the inner artist in her as she gave a new look to her grandfather's plain old wooden box. Sharing her creativity with fans, she wrote, “Using my creativity!! Gave my grandfather's plain old wooden box a makeover using decoupage! (sic)”

Learns colouring hair

As beauty parlours and spas remained shut during the lockdown, Gayatri learnt to color her hair, too. “The things corona teaches me to do.... Coloring my own hair in corona times!! (sic),” reads her social media post.

Tutoring her kids

The schools and colleges are yet to open in many regions. Gayatri has turned a teacher for the sake of kids and learning mathematics especially fractions for them. She wrote, “Online school begins today! I am going back to class 4.....I still hate maths and i still hate fractions!! And most of all I hate early mornings...... (sic)”
