From Devadharshini to Arun Prasath: TV artists who 'accidentally' ended up acting

Acting is not an easy profession to make a career, and few, who attempt to do it, actually taste success. However, certain actors stumbled onto this career path 'accidentally'. Here is a list of actors who portrayed this rare fairy tale.

Bharathi Kannamma actor Arun Prasath always wanted to become a movie director. But for survival, he started appearing in short films and modelling. This led the way to become Dr. Bharathi in Bharathi Kannamma.

Acting was never a dream for Devadharshini. But her good looks gave her the chance to become an anchor for a news channel during her college days. She agreed to do it for pocket money. Eventually, the actress had her breakthrough into acting when she got a role in Kanavugal Ilavasam. Later, her performance in Vidathu Karuppu got her a huge amount of recognition.

Latha Rao came to Chennai to attend a function, and there was a shooting taking place nearby. Out of curiosity, she went there to watch, which led to her debut on the small screen. The shooting was for the famous TV serial 'Metti Oli' and there was no lookback for the actress for the next 15 years as she got busy with shootings for more than 30 shows in her career.

A mathematics graduate, Samuthirakani started working as an assistant director for the legendary filmmaker K. Balachandar. As he worked with him, the director encouraged him to work as a junior artist in TV serials like Ramani Vs. Ramani, Jannal, Chiththi, etc., Though Samuthirakani realised his dream of becoming a director later, he is still the most wanted actor in K-town.
