Shruti Haasan and
Akshara Haasan and other Kollywood celebrities in attendance.
Kamal unveiled the statue in the premises of his production house that was launched the same day.
K. Balachander is one of the most revered Tamil filmmakers and many including Kamal, Rajinikanth and others consider him as their ‘Guru’. Besides his accomplishments on silver screen, K. Balachander is known for his pioneering work on Tamil TV as well. He made many TV shows like Sahana, Oru Koodai Paasam, Kadhal Pagadai, Premi, Jannal, Kai Alavu Manasu, Ramani vs Ramani, Rail Sneham, Anni among others. Many of his TV shows projected women in powerful roles.
