Bigg Boss Malayalam 1 invited 18 people from different walks of life as contestants. Actress Shweta Menon, model Shiyas Kareem, and social media sensation Basheer Bashi were some of the popular names.

The show concluded crowning TV host Sabumon Abdusamad as the winner. During his stint, the TV star had won million hearts with his exceptional gaming skills and attitude. The winner was awarded a flat worth ₹1 crore. Pearle Maaney was the runner-up of the competition.

Undoubtedly, the season is still remembered for the love story of Srinish Aravind and Pearle Maaney. From Pearle proposing to Srinish to Mohanlal asking their willingness to get married, the Malayali TV audience has witnessed the fairytale love story in the show. However, the couple is happily married now and their baby girl Nila turned one recently.

Actor Kamal Haasan's entry left both contestants and viewers stunned. The actor entered the house as part of the promotion of his then much-awaited release 'Viswaroopam'. Contestants performed a special tribute to the actor and he was seen enjoying some candid time with them.

The show has broken the mold by welcoming a transgender contestant in the very first season. Model-actress Anjali Ameer made a wildcard entry. But, unfortunately, she couldn't stay long inside the house due to health issues.
