From getting suspended midway to airing pre-recorded finale: Here's how COVID-19 impacted Bigg Boss Malayalam 3

This season of Bigg Boss Malayalam is not like the previous ones. The ongoing pandemic took a toll on the show and to some extent, forced the makers to alter a few things. That's not all, the viewers missed a few regular things which have always been a part of the reality show. Let's take a look...

Following the COVID protocols, all the contestants underwent a 14-day quarantine before entering the BB house.

Different from the last season, there was no live audience in the studio. Host Mohanlal hosted the premiere and the weekend episodes without any live interaction with viewers.

There were no celebrity entries in the third season of Bigg Boss Malayalam 3. When Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan and actor Mukesh made surprising entries to the first season of Bigg Boss Malayalam, comedian Dharmajan Bolgatty entered the second season. Unfortunately, there were no such entries in this season due to the pandemic.

Besides on the grand premiere day, host Mohanlal also didn't enter the house this time. Even though he reached the storeroom of the house on the Easter special episode, the host didn't enter the house and interact with housemates.

Bigg Boss Malayalam 3 got suspended due to the second wave of the COVID-19 outbreak. The contestants were taken to a hotel and the house was reportedly sealed by the Tamil Nadu Health Department for violating COVID-19 rules.

Even though the show got suspended midway, the team had conducted a public vote to declare the winner. The existing contestants of BB house, Anoop Krishnan, Rithu Manthra, Noby Marcose, Ramzan Muhammed, Manikuttan, Kidilam Firoz, Sai Vishnu, and Dimpal Bhal were declared as the finalists and a public vote was conducted online.

Different from the routine, this time, Bigg Boss fans will be watching a pre-recorded finale of the show. The winner is being already declared and there is a huge buzz that it is contestant Manikuttan who has lifted the trophy.

The second season of Bigg Boss Malayalam also got suspended midway due to the first wave of COVID-19. On the 75th day, host Mohanlal entered the house and informed about the pandemic to the contestants. The actor felicitated all the remaining contestants with a memento and the show concluded its journey.
