From first meet at Kapaleeshwarar temple to their 'confusion phase': Govind Padmasoorya and Gopika Anil spill the beans about their love story

The engagement news of actor-TV anchor Govind Padmasoorya and Santhwanam actress Gopika Anil left the Malayali audience pleasantly surprised. Soon after the picture of their intimate engagement surfaced online, fans were curious to know about their love story and finally, the couple revealed it. In a video that surfaced on Govind's streaming channel, the duo has answered all the possible questions from the fans.

In the video, the couple shared that the marriage proposal was initiated by their aunts, who are long-term friends.

"My Mema, father's sister, and Gopika's father's sister were friends. One day Mema came to me with the proposal and asked me to meet her. But, I skipped it thinking that she would forget it. But, she kept insisting and even her tone changed from 'Please go and meet her' to 'You won't listen to me!'. That's when I decided to meet her. When I called her, she said she was in Chennai, so I thought that would be the best place to secure our privacy," Govind said.

"We met at the famous Kapaleeshwarar Temple in Chennai. Along with Gopika, her sister, and her friends were also there. After the brief introduction, they left us alone. Initially, I thought she wouldn't talk much and I was preparing myself to say No to the proposal, but for the next almost 5 hours, she spoke about her and it was special. That was the first meeting. Then, it was my turn to talk, I started talking about my life during our trip from Trivandrum to Calicut, and even after reaching the destination, my story wasn't over. I think that was one of the first times in life I had opened up so much to a person," Govind said.

The duo shared that they took a long time to come up with a decision as both of them had their own confusions. Gopika said that she wasn't sure about the marriage even after spending quality time with Govind. Later, Govind started having second thoughts and he even planned to call off the proposal. However, here they are happily engaged.

The intimate engagement ceremony was indeed filled with joy and happiness. But, the demise of Santhwanam director Aadithyan shook the families and they even thought of postponing the function.

"It was just 4 days before the engagement that the director had passed away. A few days ago only Gopika told me that she had got his blessings. After paying last rites to him, Gopika was shattered. I even asked her whether we should postpone the engagement. But, we were not in a position to do it. Many of my relatives, mostly elderly people had traveled from other states to be a part of the engagement and we had to host the event. Happy that everyone has wholeheartedly accepted us. Most of the comments read that they are happily shocked," the couple shared.

Soon after the engagement, there were rumors that Gopika would be quitting Santhwanam. However, the couple has addressed the same too.

"Marriage is never a constraint to continue one's work. She will surely continue being Anjali. I have no role in it. Because of this wedding, she will not stop coming to you all as Anjali," Govind said.
