From Mahabharat to Mahanayaka B R Ambedkar: A look at popular dubbed shows on Kannada TV
Kannada television has welcomed a lot of dubbed shows this year. These shows have been giving a tough competition to the other serials in terms of TRP and have created a huge buzz among the viewers. Here is a list of popular Kannada dubbed shows:
Malgudi Days
Television series 'Malgudi Days', which aired in the mid-1980s is airing it's Kannada dubbed version. The series is adapted from R.K. Narayan’s short stories from his books ‘Malgudi Days’, ‘A Horse and Two Goats’, ‘An Astrologer's Day’ and other short stories, as well as the novels ‘Swami and Friends’, and ‘The Vendor of Sweets’. It is directed by late actor Shankar Nag.
Mahabharata
Mahabharat, which was aired between 2013 to 2014, is dubbed into Kannada. The serial, which is based on Mahabharat by Vyasa, is the second dubbed Kannada television series to go on air after Malgudi Days. The show garnered attention of the Kannada audience and became popular within a short span of time.
Naagin as Naagakannikke
Popular Hindi show Naagin season 2 is dubbed into Kannada as Nagakanikke. The show narrates the lives of shape-shifting serpent women. Produced by Ekta Kapoor, the show is all about a shape-shifting serpent woman.
Nazar as Drushti
Drushti is the dubbed version of the popular Hindi show 'Nazar'. The serial is about Mohana and Mridul Rathod who are married and have two children, Ansh and Kajal. Mohana helps Mridul to amass great wealth through black magic, which gradually leads to his premature death. On the other hand, Mohana also kills Mridul’s mother to hide her identity.
Paramavatari Sri Krishna
Hindi mythology series 'Paramavatar Shri Krishna' is being dubbed into Kannada with the same title. The serial narrates the story of Lord Krishna starting from his birth, childhood, teenage to becoming the prince of Mathura. The story takes place in different cities like Gokul, Mathura, Hastinapura, and Dwaraka.
Radhakrishna
Radhakrishna is yet another mythological dubbed into Kannada. The show is based on the mythological characters Radha and Krishna. The show has Mallika Singh and Sumedh Madgelkar in the lead roles.
Mahanayaka Dr. B R Ambedkar
The Kannada dubbed version of the popular Marathi TV series Mahamanavachi Gauravgatha, which narrates the life story of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, is aired on Kannada as 'Mahanayaka Dr. B R Ambedkar'. Having garnered attention in its native language, the Marathi show has wood fans in Kannada as well. It will trace all the important life events and the inspirational qualities of Dr. Ambedkar. In fact, as per the TRP reports, Mahanayaka Dr. B R Ambedkar is currently one of the top five most-watched of Kannada television.
