#lockdown diaries

Kannada actress Shalini is a doting mother in real life. In an exclusive chat with ETimes TV, the actress spoke about how she dealt with her daughter when an unexpected lockdown due to Covid-19 spread was imposed.

2/7

I completed my shoots a week before the lockdown

I am busier than I was before. I try to follow a vague schedule and motivate myself. I had completed my shoots and was at home a week before the lockdown was imposed. So it did not affect me much.

Lockdown with my daughter

Initially, my daughter was excited but then she learnt about the lockdown and realised that she cannot go out anywhere. She used to cry thinking about the fact that she cannot go out. I had to make her understand the situation.

4/7

There were days when she feels very low

Of course, there were days when she feels very low because of the boredom, but I just let her be for herself. I let her go with the flow and allow her to do whatever she feels like doing.

Our summer vacation plans went for a toss

This time we had planned to spend the summer holidays by visiting our relative's place. But when my daughter learnt that even that is not possible, she lost it. Then I tried my best to explain it to her. She understood the seriousness of the situation and accepted the lockdown.

Having a routine actually helps

We kind of follow a schedule on a daily basis. I personally feel kids have to follow a routine. There will be a slight shuffle in the schedule as the days pass, but this helps me plan my day accordingly.

7/7

I let her help me when she volunteers to do

At times, I get surprised when she volunteers to help me with the household chores. I let her do it. At the end, if she is enjoying it and keeping herself occupied, then there's nothing like it.
