Akul Balaji and actor Aryann Santosh had been summoned by the Central Crime Branch in connection with the ongoing #Sandalwooddrugscandal. Akul appeared before CCB on 18 September and was interrogated for about seven hours at a stretch. Post interrogation, Akul hailed the CCB for doing a great thing right now by cracking down on the use of drugs and trying to nab all those who are behind this.

Akul landed himself into trouble for violating the rules and regulations amid the nationwide lockdown. An FIR had been filed by Dodballapur police against Akul Balaji for allegedly giving permission to host a wedding at his resort during the lockdown. According to the reports, a group of twenty people was spotted entering the resort during the mid-night. The villagers spotted them and quickly reported to the nearby police station.

It had only been two weeks since the dance reality show 'Takadhimitha' premiered and the show witnessed its first controversy. Adam Pasha, who was one of the contestants, decided to walk out of the show due to alleged gender-related discrimination. Also, he has decided to file a complaint against the host Akul.
