Who is Shrutika Arjun? From Cooku With Comali to Bigg Boss 18; Meet 'The 50' contestant who’s making an impact
Shrutika Arjun may not be the loudest contestant on The 50, but she is slowly becoming one of the most active and noticeable ones. Currently seen on The 50, Shrutika’s presence stands out simply because she is different from the usual reality show pattern.
For those unaware, Shrutika belongs to a respected film family. She is the granddaughter of legendary Tamil comedian Thengai Srinivasan. His work is still remembered across generations in South cinema. That legacy exists, but Shrutika never loudly carried it forward. In fact, she has often stayed away from projecting it.
Her acting career in the South cinema began years ago, in 2002. She made her Tamil film debut with Sri, opposite superstar Suriya, which is no small thing for a newcomer. After that, she also worked in Malayalam films and shared screen space with actors like Suresh Gopi and Kunchako Boban. After a point, Shrutika stepped away from acting altogether.
In Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa's podcast, Shrutika opened up about her initial films and how she got her first break. She shared, "When I was 16, I had done 4 films as a heroine, but all of them were flops. My granddad was a legendary comedian in the Tamil Industry. His name is Thengai Srinivasan. He did more than 900 films, was extremely famous and worked with all South stalwarts. But he passed away when I was only a month old, he suffered from a brain haemorrhage. I was spotted at a restaurant when I was 16 and was offered my first acting job."
Years later, audiences saw a very different side of her on Cooku With Comali Season 3. She wasn’t playing a character there. She was spontaneous, funny, and sometimes messy. That honesty worked. She went on to win the season, earning affection for being relatable rather than dramatic.
Her reach expanded further with Bigg Boss 18. Shrutika never tried to chase attention inside the house. She was honest, spoke when she needed to, and dealt with stress in her own fun way. That way of doing things helped her get a lot of fans in the Hindi belts.
Outside of television, she launched her Ayurvedic skincare brand. Married to businessman Arjun Raaj and a mother to son Arav, Shrutika's emotional journey and engaging personality have made her a fan favorite on the show.
