Pakkhi Hegde is a known name in Bhojpuri cinema and has also acted in a couple of Hindi films and other regional movies. But now she has moved to doing TV and recently made her debut with the show Udti Ka Naam Rajjo. An excited Pakkhi tells us, “I am enjoying being a part of a TV show. It’s a very different experience and feels nice that a huge audience knows me now. That’s the connect television has. I am happy to have got a chance to be part of different mediums and want to continue working across all mediums.”
Incidentally, Pakkhi never planned to be an actress and it all happened by chance. She says, “I was a housewife, but later when I had some issues in my marriage, I stayed away from my husband along with my two daughters. That’s when I got into acting in 2005 because I wanted to be independent and have an identity of myself. In the beginning, it was very difficult because while it was a completely new profession for me, I was also a mother of two. I didn’t tell people at first that I had two daughters, but once I started getting work and made a name for myself then there was no need for me to hide anything. But initially, I thought that people might not cast me if they know that I am a mother. I have gone through my share of hardships in my personal life and at work, but overall I have enjoyed my journey so far.”
Talking about the difficult times, she says, “Being a single mother and balancing work was not easy. I moved out in 2005 and got a divorce in 2012. I had to send my daughters to a boarding school, which was not easy for me. They have grown up beautifully and are mature enough now to understand those situations. And now I am at a better stage in life where I am able to balance work and be with my daughters, too.”
