Vahbiz Dorabjee on her weight issues: Went through a difficult time and people were really shallow towards me

Vahbiz Dorabjee, who rose to fame as Panchi Dobriyal in Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani, is body confident. The actress is comfortable flaunting her curves and loves donning stylish outfits. The actress has taken up intermittent dieting and has lost 15 kgs so far. In an exclusive conversation with the TimesofIndia.com, the actress opened up about weight issues, intermittent dieting and body-shaming. (Photo: Instagram)

On taking up dancing

"I have been struggling with my health since ages now. I always keep on trying something or the other as I have gone through lots of ups and downs and through a lot of havoc in my body. I did Yoga for a while, then I did gymming also for sometime, but I got bored because of the same routine. I then decided to take up dancing and I love it." (Photo: Instagram)

Losing 15 kgs

I am following the intermittent diet and I think it has worked wonders for me. A lot of people are shocked seeing my transformation. There is a drastic transformation as I have lost 15 kgs so far. I am doing the intermediate dieting and it has worked for me. (Photo: Instagram)

Fasting for 16 hours

Initially, when I started it wasn't easy as I am fasting for 16 hours. For the first few days I faced a lot of difficulties but then I got used to it. Instead of eating 5/6 meals a day, you have two meals a day and 16 hours fast. It has worked for me. (Photo: Instagram)

On weight issues

I am lucky to have not faced such an issue. But initially, when I started putting on weight, it was heartbreaking. Firstly, you are yourself very shocked as your body is going through so much. Then you try to come to terms with your own body and then there are people who run you down. They make nasty comments on you. I was really thin like a bamboo stick so people could not accept my weight gain. I soon realised one thing that first I need to except myself, people don't need to except me. (Photo: Instagram)

On regaining confidence

I had lots of ups and downs in life and people were really shallow with me, lot of comments were passed, but then I slowly started regaining my confidence because I understood that it is not something that is on my hands. I would also like to break a myth that people who eat a lot are overweight. Everyone who eats a lot is not overweight. They think arre ye kitna khaati hogi ye toh khaate peete ghar ki hogi...That's not true, a woman's body goes through a lot of changes. (Photo: Instagram)

On accepting one's body type

I was broken for a lot of time but then I regained my confidence. I realised I need to accept myself first and since then I am so damn confident. (Photo: Instagram)

Dealing with mean comments

First of all it is whole journey that you go through. You go through mixed emotions, society breaks you, but then you don't live for the society, you live for yourself. What is most important for me is that I am very oblivious. For me only my parents and my friends and family matters. When I regained my confidence, I realised that the perception of people around me also changed. Everyone realised that I am happy the way I am. (Photo: Instagram)

On body-shaming

I have always been vocal and I will continue to be. Because it's just not about body-shaming it's about everything. It shouldn't matter if you are thin, dark, divorcee, married, when you are married, why don't you have kids, etc. It just going on and on and I strongly believe in live and let live. I can speak from my experience as I have gone through body-shaming, people have said many things. I think body-shaming or mocking someone is the most shallow thing to do to anybody. Just stop judging and change your perception. (Photo: Instagram)
