Urvashi Dholakia recalls playing Komolika in Kasautii Zindagii Kay; says ‘It has put me on a different pedestal, it can’t be replicated’

Television icon Urvashi Dholakia, best known for her unforgettable portrayal of Komolika in Kasautii Zindagii Kay, recently shared her thoughts in a conversation with Sana Khan during her Ramadan vlogs. She opened up about her career choices, personal discipline, and the lasting impact of her legendary role. From embracing intermittent fasting to making her OTT debut alongside her son, Urvashi’s journey is nothing short of inspiring.

Intermittent Fasting Suits Me

“I don’t like to eat after 8 pm. It might be a rare occasion if I eat late when I am out. I love intermittent fasting—it suits my body perfectly,” says Urvashi. Her love for Mumbai’s street food, especially chaat and sev puri, often replaces her dinner. “Your body needs rest at night, and I have seen great benefits from this lifestyle,” she adds.

3/7

Doing Selective Work

Urvashi is known for being highly selective in her projects. “Over the years, I have started doing only what excites me. People always call my projects a ‘comeback,’ but I wonder—comeback from where? Main gayi kahan thi?” She prefers quality over quantity and chooses roles that challenge her as an actor rather than just staying in the limelight.

4/7

Her OTT Debut with Son

Taking a leap into the digital space, Urvashi made her OTT debut in January. “Last year, my entire focus was on this project, and what made it even more special was that my son debuted alongside me. It was such a proud and emotional moment to perform together,” she shares.

On Playing Komolika

“Komolika is a role that can’t be replicated. It changed my career overnight and put me on a completely different pedestal,” Urvashi says. She acknowledges that Komolika remains one of Indian television’s most iconic antagonists, setting a standard that continues to be unmatched.

6/7

Her Mother’s Reaction

Urvashi recalls how her villainous portrayal even left her mother exasperated. “People hated me, which meant I succeeded in my role. My mom would often say, ‘Bas kar ab!’ I remember once, during the scene where I kidnapped Prem (Prerna and Anurag’s son) and she told me, ‘Ab toh bas kar. Too much hogaya.’ I laughed and reminded her, ‘Maa, I haven’t actually kidnapped him!’”

7/7

Surviving in the Industry

Starting her career at 21, Urvashi had no idea what fame was. “I was 21 and I just knew I had to work. I didn’t know what is fame. When I started to understand, I used to fear. That’s the reason I have survived for 24 years,” she reflects. Her resilience and ability to adapt have been key to her long-standing success.
