Tejasswi Prakash’s Naagin 6 to Salman Khan hosted Bigg Boss 15; 10 TV shows made on extravagantly high budgets

Reports suggest that Ekta Kapoor’s fantasy show Naagin 6, featuring Bigg Boss 15 winner Tejasswi Prakash is a big-budget show. Its budget is as good as that of a movie. This show seems to be being made on a high budget as well as high expectations. Previously, Indian TV has seen a few other shows with huge budgets and deserve a mention in our list of most expensive shows. Take a look:

Naagin 6

According to a few reports, Tejasswi Prakash starrer Naagin 6, which will also feature Simba Nagpal, Sudha Chandran, Urvashi Dholakia and many other popular actors has a budget of a whopping Rs 130 crore. If similar reports are to be believed, this is going to be the most expensive of all seasons of the Naagin series. Moreover, with the huge amount being spent, Ekta Kapoor is expecting similar returns too.

Bigg Boss 15

Bigg Boss 15 closed its curtains recently with Tejasswi Prakash lifting the trophy. Her win was followed by Pratik Sehajpal becoming the first runner up and Karan Kundrra the second runner up. The season featured some popular faces of the industry as contestants including Shamita Shetty, Rashami Desai, Rakhi Sawant, Nishant Bhat among others. And according to a report on an online portal, Bigg Boss 15 had a budget of approximately Rs 2 to 4 crores per day. That surely is a mighty amount.

RadhaKrishn

Sumedh Mudgalkar and Mallika Singh’s mythological drama RadhaKrishn was a show depicting the lives of Hindu deities Krishna and Radha was another expensive show. With its beautiful and enormous set, a huge cast and their costumes, the show was made on a massive budget of Rs 150 crores.

Mahabharat

Another mythological television show to have cost a whopping sum was Mahabharat. The multi-starrer show featuring Shaheer Sheikh, Sourabh Raaj Jain and many others in pivotal roles was also made on a huge budget. It was a well-appreciated show that receive accolades for its brilliant production and performance. The producers of the show reportedly spent approximately Rs 100 crore.

Jodha Akbar

A period drama, formed on the line similar to that of Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s hit Bollywood movie, Jodha Akbar was one of the most successful shows. The show starred Rajat Tokas and Paridhi Sharma in the lead roles as Akbar and Jodha respectively. Not to one's surprise, the producers of the show had spent a bomb on the costumes and the huge set. Reportedly, the historical drama had a budget of about Rs 10 crores at that time.

Ram Siya Ke Luv Kush

Mythological show Ram Siya Ke Luv Kush was another show that was made by spending a fortune. Focused on the lives of Lord Ram and Sita, and their sons Luv-Kush, the show starred Shivya Pathania, Himanshu Soni, Krish Chauhan, and Harshit Kabra in lead roles. It was also made at a really high budget.

Featuring Anil Kapoor, Tisca Chopra, Mandira Bedi, Sapna Pabbi, Adhish Khanna, Neil Bhoopalam, Madhurima Tuli, Sakshi Tanwar in the lead roles, this show was the remake of a popular American TV series of the same name. Considering the cast and the setup, this was undoubtedly a show made on a huge budget. Reportedly, the per-episode cost of 24 was approximately around Rs 2 crores, which is a massive amount when it comes to TV shows.

Amitabh Bachchan starrer television series Yuddh was another big-budgeted show on TV. It became one of the most promising shows of Indian television ever made, with the Bollywood superstar onboard. Its per episode was around Rs 3 crores. However, it failed to win the audience with that whopping price too.

Bharat Ke Veer Putra - Maharana Pratap

Historical drama Maharana Pratap starring Faisal Khan in the lead role was a show depicting the life of Hindu Rajput ruler, Maharana Pratap. With the costumes, huge sets and makeover costs, this show was made with a reported budget of Rs 80 crores.

Warrior High

Directed by Vikas Gupta, Warrior High was the most expensive youth drama series on Indian TV. With a storyline set in the boarding school background, this show was made on a high budget too. Reportedly, its set was estimated to cost around Rs.3 crore.
