My childhood has been amazing, I have a great vibe at my house. My parents have been on the religious side. I have two sisters and both of them are older than me and are happily married. Talking about the set, I have spent an amazing time there with such seasoned actors. Be it Dilip sir, Shailesh sir, Mandar uncle and all.
On missing Kavi Azad
Azad uncle, our former Dr Haathi, he was a mind blowing person. He had such a gullible nature and always helped us. We all miss him a lot when we are shooting as we spent fond memories with him.
Samay was only 7 when he started acting in Taarak Mehta
I started Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah when I was 7 years old. When it comes to juggling between studies, both in my school and college, the teachers have been extremely supportive and they would adjust my timings whenever required. Meri training hi waisi hui hai, I was only 7 when I started so I had been juggling between the two since a very young age. Now, I don't enjoy sitting free.
Samay's mother used to teach him how to act
My learning of acting began with my mother. She would stand next to the camera and make me imitate what to do. I was very young, then slowly she started making me understand and I began to act accordingly. I haven't been to any professional acting school. All that I learnt was on the set. I think I am very young and there are many things yet to come.
On the debate old vs new TMKOC episodes
There is no age group for Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, it is catered to everyone. A lot of people tell me about the old vs new episodes, but I disagree with them. I believe the characters still have the same innocence. Maybe viewers' perspective must have changed. If you see the recent episode, where Champak chacha udd gaye, maybe now people might not be liking but when this gets old, people would see the humour in it.
Samay's father had changed their surname and name
Samay shared, "My surname was Mehta before, but then my father thought about changing our surname to Shah. He even changed his name. His name was Rajesh before but one fine day he said he wanted to change his name and he changed it to Rajendra."
