Shark Tank India 2: From toxic work culture to false promises; Brands that got called out by Netizens and Sharks

Shark Tank India 2 had some amusing deals, the Sharks crossed over Rs 88cr in investment and made more than 100 deals. However, there were some brands which got criticised either by netizens or the Sharks in the show. Take a look at the major reasons behind the criticism.

2/7

A dental care brand

Recently a dental care brand was called out for promoting toxic work culture when they posted a picture of their employee who hadn't slept for 30 days due to their high-demand inventory. The post read, "Meet Sonu: Our Account Manager at Partner Warehouse. He has hardly slept in the last 30 days. He looks after the entire order packing and dispatching."

A user criticised the brand and wrote, “For the millionth time, your startup employee not having slept well in 30 days is not a flex”. While another one called them irresponsible, "Most irresponsible company for this week and also forever. Never use their products."

3/7

A weight loss brand

Shikha Aggarwal came to Shark Tank India 2 with a unique pitch of weight loss without exercise. Having faced weight issues herself, Namita disapproved of Shikha's concept and the use of the word 'restart'.

She stated, "My main issue is with the word 'restart' that you have used. I do not fundamentally agree with what you are saying, that there should be no exercise, we should restart, etc. Weight loss happens due to lifestyle changes, and if our nation is becoming diabetes and blood pressure capital, it is because we are engaging in these gimmicks and playing with our health. I think we need to stop misguiding the country for that my reason is out."

4/7

A digital e-clinic brand

The Digital e-clinic brand had taken Namita's offer which made Peyush Bansal say that they made the worst deal. He kept saying that they were making the wrong choice. Although, the founders chose Namita over Peyush. Peyush said, “By going with a medical firm they have killed their business. It is the worst decision of their lives. I feel sorry for them.”

5/7

A customized bat brand with a live cricket experience

Sameer Shah and Harshad Shah created customised bats based on the player's body dynamics and playing technique. The bat includes a maintenance kit, and they also fix old bats. However, looking at the customised sensor and then the whole practical experience. Anupam asked them, 'Yeh sab chochle baazi karne ke liye aap kitne paise lete ho?' Anupam and Peyush believed that there was no need for these extra elements and advised them to focus on making premium bats instead of all this.

6/7

An hourly-based hotel brand

The 5 pitchers Aditya, Shubham, Pratik, Nikhil and Avnish talk about the business model which was an hourly-based hotel. All the sharks had decided to opt-out, however, Amit and Anupam had an argument over the business model. Anupam tried advising the pitchers, and while questioning them about the business he realised that they didn't know anything about the scalability of the business and asked them to first research and then come up with the startup rather than heading with no direction.

7/7

Parul Gulati's hair extension brand

When actress Parul Gulati pitched her brand, netizens called it a marketing gimmick. A user wrote, "Another scripted drama. Isse acha kisi aur business ko opportunity de dete jinko jarurat thi, iss pitch ke wajah se koi deserving business ko mauka nahi mila (should have given some other business who needed it an opportunity, this pitch might have made a more deserving business suffer), she is an influencer at the end of the day, already has fame and everything. This pitch sucks poore season mein 5, 6 pitches aisi hai jinki jagah kisi aur ko hona chahiye tha (the whole season had 5 to 6 pitches that could have been done away with). Seriously too much-scripted drama."
