Not Ruslaan Mumtaz, but Akshay Mhatre to play the male lead in Maharaja Agrasen!

While it has been reported that Ruslaan Mumtaz has been signed to play the male lead opposite Shrenu Parikh in the upcoming show Maharaja Agrasen, we have now learnt that it’s not him, but Akshay Mhatre, who has bagged the part. The shoot for the show will take place in Jaipur and the actor is expected to fly to the Pink City today.
A source associated with the project told us, “We are treating the show in a different way unlike what the working title suggests.It’s not a typical love story or a family drama, but a mix of everything. It’s a daily soap with a progressive storyline. The show will be based in Chandni Chowk, Delhi. The shoot will take place in Jaipur and the cast will be expected to stay in the city till the show is on air. Akshay is leaving for Jaipur today.”
While Akshay didn’t respond to our calls or text messages, Ruslaan told us, “I hadn’t been approached directly for this show. However, I can’t take up a TV show at the moment. I am currently shooting for a film, so my dates are not available till August 15. I can’t take up any other project, simultaneously.”
Ruslaan, who made his debut on TV with Kehta Hai Dil Jee Le Zara, was last seen in Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke. Meanwhile, Akshay shot to fame as Naren Vyas in Piyaa Albela. His last fiction outing was Indiawaali Maa, which wrapped up in February this year.
