Nidhi Bhanushali aka Sonu to Bhavya Gandhi aka Tapu: A look at actors who quit Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah

Neha Mehta played the role of Anjali Mehta in the show. The actress was paired opposite actor Sailesh Lodha, who plays the role of Taarak Mehta in the TV show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Gurucharan Singh aka Mr. Sodhi from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been part of the show for several years now. However, the actor recently decided to quit the show owing to his father's health issues. His father recently got operated and is now recuperating in the hospital. Gurucharan currently wants to be with his father and take care of him. Dil Toh Pagal Hai actor Balvinder Singh Suri has replaced him on the show and has started shooting for the same. Monika Bhadoriya, who is known for playing the role of Bawri (Baga's girlfriend) in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, has quit the show. The actress confirmed the news to TimesOfIndia.com and said, "Yes, I have left the show. It's been more than two months that I quit. I will miss the character a lot since I had molded it my way." Denying reports of a hike in fee, she added, "I have left Taarak on an amicable note." Monika was a part of the sitcom for almost six years and hasn't been seen on it, of late.

Nidhi Bhanushali, who essays the role of Sonu Bhide on the show, is quitting the popular sitcom. Nidhi wants to concentrate on her higher studies. The actress, who is pursuing her BA from a college in Mumbai, wants to devote her entire time to studies. The makers of the show have planned to show Sonu going abroad for her further studies. They have given Nidhi more time to study and have allotted her less time for the shoot. It seems that Nidhi is finding it hard to strike a balance on her professional and personal life and hence decided to put down her papers. Nidhi replaced Jheel Mehta as Sonu in 2012 and won hearts with her performance. Nidhi made her television debut with Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and has been part of it for more than 6 years. Jheel Mehta aka the young Sonu daughter of Bhide from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma was earlier played by 9 year old Jheel Mehta. Jheel had opted out of the popular sitcom to focus on her studies. Balancing both studies and shooting for Taarak was becoming taxing for Jheel hence she decided to leave the show. He played the role of Dr Hathi since the beginning in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah for a year, but after a disagreement with the makers, Nirmal left the show. He was replaced by Kavi Kumar Azad, but after the latter passed away, Nirmal was brought back into the show.

He stepped into the shoes of Nirmal Soni to play the role of Dr Hathi in 2009 and went on to essay the role for 9 years. However, after his sudden demise, Nirmal Soni was brought back. Kavi Kumar Azad passed away due to a cardiac arrest in 2018.

Actor Bhavya Gandhi, who played the role of Tapu on the show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah quit the show after working for more than 8 years on the it. Bhavya literally grew up on the show as we saw him as a little kid initially. In the initial years of the show, Tapu was a notorious Kid and Bhavya pulled off the role really well. By the end of the show's first year, Tapu had become a household name and Bhavya had become one of the most loved celebs of all time. On the show, we saw Tapu transform from a notorious kid to a responsible teenager. He was replaced by 19-year-old Mumbai based teenager Raj Anadkat.

The young actor Raj was last seen in 'Ek Rishta Saajhedari Ka' and after Bhavy's exit he took over to play the role of grown-up Tappu on 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah'. He made his entry in the ‘Tappu birthday special’ episode of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah in 2017. (Photo: Instagram).

Popularly known as Sodhi, Gurucharan Singh also had his share of ups and downs on the show. He was roped in to play the role of Harjeet Singh Sodhi in 2008 and he was successfully part of the show till 2013. Actor Laad Singh Maan stepped into play the role of Sodhi for a year but the ardent fans of the show did not accept him in the role. He was replaced and Gurucharan Singh was brought back into the show.

She joined Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah in 2008 but left mid-way for her maternity break. She played the role of Roshan Kaur Sodhi and was part of the show for 5 years. After a gap of three years, Jennifer resumed TMKOC to play Mrs Sodhi.

Dilkush joined the show in 2013, but soon left the show in 2016 as she was not happy with the showbiz industry and wanted a break. She left the show to focus on family life.

Priya Ahuja played the role of Rita Reporter. She was part of the show since beginning. She was later replaced by Nidhi Subbaiah.
