in 2011 made a comeback on reality TV after an 8-year break during which he battled with poverty and substance abuse. During the episode, Azmat said that he feels blessed to be a part of Indian Idol season 11. “Indian Idol has given me a second life and I want to use this opportunity to the maximum,” he said.

Music composer Anu Malik, one of the judges on the show, appreciated Azmat and said, "The improvement you have shown is outstanding and if you keep practicing like this, no one can stop you from becoming a singing sensation."
