A woman is usually considered submissive and weak, but Sharda Modi (Poonam Dhillon) of Ekk Nayi Pehchan has proved it wrong. The otherwise self-doubting homemaker has gone all out to carve an identity of her own. Says Poonam, “An Indian housewife is programmed to give all her time and attention to family. Selfless and giving, her needs become secondary. But when situation demands, she can be strong.
All you need is a positive attitude and financial security. When you are dependent on others, they take advantage of it. Never accept mental or physical abuse quietly.”

Padmini Kolhapure, who recently entered the show to play Pallavi Ajmera, says, “I think Indian women are multifaceted. It takes a lot to put your family before yourself. It’s not easy to be a homemaker. Sharda has proven that if you have it in you, you can achieve anything.
