Krushna Abhishek: When Sunita mami met our kids, we were too emotional to even cry
Though Krushna Abhishek reconciled with his uncle Govinda in October 2024, Govinda’s wife Sunita Ahuja had continued to keep her distance from him and his wife, Kashmera Shah. The long-standing rift finally came to an end on the sets of Laughter Chefs – Unlimited Entertainment, where Sunita not only met the couple warmly, but also spent time with their nine-year-old twin sons, Krishaang and Rayaan.
Recalling the reunion after nearly a decade, Krushna shares, “This was one of the most special family moments for all of us. Main hamesha emotional ho jaata tha yeh soch kar ki Sunita mami aur mama humse naraaz hain, baat nahi kar rahe hain. I would often feel that this was the time they should have been with the kids, playing with them.”
He adds, “Luckily, she agreed to come on Laughter Chefs. When we met her on the show, all three of us broke down. But when she met the kids, the emotion was so overwhelming that we couldn’t even cry. It felt unreal. She had seen our children when they were seven or eight months old at the hospital, so they don’t remember it. The kids knew Chi Chi mama and Sunita mami only through photographs, so when they saw her, they were surprised.”
Looking back at how the reunion also brought back memories from his childhood, he says, “Sunita mami first met Govindaji during my first birthday party on our building terrace. I have spent a lot of time at her home, and she has really taken care of me. I always wanted my children to share that same bond with her and grow up around her. My reunion with mama was special, but this felt complete because mami is very open, straightforward and full of masti and humour.”
Sharing how the relationship is now evolving, Krushna says, “We have been in regular touch, and she is even planning to come home soon. Ab aana jaana laga rahega.”
