Ishita Ganguly, who was last seen in TV show Nath, is all set to play the antagonist in Badi Haveli Ki Chhoti Thakurain. The actress will portray the role of a jethani, who wants to overpower the devrani and control the entire family.
Ishita said, "It is an interesting story that revolves around two sister-in-laws and how the elder bahu wants to be powerful and take charge. I am glad I got this role because it is very glamorous and has many shades to portray." Ishita denied that the show is inspired from any show or the storyline matches with any other ongoing show on television. She said, "There could be other shows with similar storyline where the two bahus don't get along and I wish them all the best but we are trying something different here. Most stories are around kitchen politics in TV but what is different is how actors approach the roles and the script. Jethani-devrani politics in TV shows is not new but when an actor gets to portray a difficult role, you grab it."
Ishita, who completed a decade in showbiz shares how she has enjoyed playing diverse roles since her TV show Shastri Sisters. She said, "After playing the lead in the initial few shows, I wanted to try something different and moved to the mytho genre. And then I experimented with negative roles. I feel an actor should get opportunities to prove her or his versatility and that's how we progress and learn more about our work."
Ishita has been part of interesting shows like Yeh Hai Chahatein, Maitree, Vignaharta Ganesh and Peshwa Bajirao.
