Jayshankar Tripathi on reuniting with Tarun Khanna in Hey Bhagwaan – Kitna Badal Gaya Insaan: It feels familiar
Tarun Khanna is set to reprise the role of Lord Shiva in the upcoming show Hey Bhagwaan – Kitna Badal Gaya Insaan!. The show is a warm, witty divine dramedy that blends slice-of-life humour with a gentle mythological lens. While Tarun will be seen as Mahadev, actor Jayshankar Tripathi plays his devotee, Mahesh Sharma, an honest lawyer based in Ujjain.
Speaking about the premise and his character, Jayshankar says, “Mahesh Sharma is an honest lawyer in Ujjain who always speaks the truth, no matter the situation. His honesty often lands him in awkward and funny situations at home, within the family, among colleagues, and in court. Even when it causes him loss or discomfort, he chooses the path of truth. When Shiv Bhagwan comes down to be with him, their journey becomes both heartwarming and humorous, gently conveying messages of kindness, truth, and understanding.”
This marks the second time Jayshankar is sharing screen space with Tarun. The two had earlier worked together on a special episode of Savdhaan India. Recalling that experience, Jayshankar shares, “It was a 10-day outdoor shoot in Madhya Pradesh, and we bonded very well. Tarun is a fine artiste. Both of us come from a theatre background and continue to stay connected to the stage. He is very grounded and always supports his co-actors. I hope the same comfort and understanding carries forward into this show. The bhakt and bhagwan pairing will look very organic.”
Talking about his personal connection with the role, Jayshankar adds that Mahesh Sharma resonates deeply with him. “The character is very close to my heart. There are similarities between Mahesh Sharma and me, which makes it easier to understand and portray him honestly. Today, people are slowly drifting apart instead of staying connected. This show reminds us of the strength and beauty of human connection. I am confident audiences will relate to its story,” he says.
