Television actress Kajol Srivastava, who was last seen on the show 'Karamphal Daata Shani', got engaged to Ankit Khare, an IT professional, in her home town Banda (UP) on November 24.

Kajol, who wore a white lehenga for her engagement said: “I am extremely happy. In fact, Ankit is more excited than me. I had originally planned to get married after five years, but Ankit’s confidence and persistence made me realise that we could take the relationship ahead.”

The couple plans to tie the knot in February in Ankit’s hometown in Madhya Pradesh.

Kajol says she is still undecided about whether she will move to the US along with him, where he works, after marriage. “I haven’t decided on that. I will stay back if I take up a show, or, I will keep going there for short breaks. But I am definitely not quitting the industry,” says Kajol.

It is often assumed that upcoming nuptials means less work for actresses, however, Kajol disagrees. “I really feel it’s a personal choice, in my case I love acting and I just can't quit because I know how I have built my career. But people have their perceptions. I know some people who think that after getting engaged an actress won't get a big role even if she's very young. I am sure if I will keep giving auditions and keep doing serials, people will get it that I am not quitting the industry. If male actors continue to work after marriage then why should female actors quit the industry after getting married? Nowadays we talk about equality so in my relationship status we both follow this. We give importance to our careers equally,” saya Kajol.

Interestingly, her relationship is a classic ‘didi-tera-deewana’ tale. Ankit is Kajol’s sister’s brother-in-law and it was during her sister’s wedding in April last year that they first met.

Kajol had then said: “My sister had asked me to help my jiju (brother-in-law) with shopping. I, along with my family, went to Pune 20 days before the wedding and that’s when I first met Ankit. I hated him initially, because he came across as arrogant. However, I soon realised that he was an introvert, who took his time to open up to people. He is a genuine and loyal person. We kept in touch after the wedding and became friends by November. What helped us bond over was our love for travelling and the fact that both of us are family-oriented. Soon, we realised that what we shared was more than just friendship. In the meanwhile, their families also felt that they are a perfect pair. The rest, as they say, is history.” The two have been in a long-distance relationship, as Ankit has been working in Denver (US) for the past four years.
