From recalling eve teasing incident to initial hesitation in doing Bigg Boss; Choti Sardarni’s Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia gets candid

Choti Sardaarni actress Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia opened up about the challenges and turning points in her life—from confronting eve-teasers to facing industry pressure about body image in a conversation with Hauterrfly. She also shared why she initially hesitated to join Bigg Boss, how her family shaped her outlook, and her memorable first meeting with Salman Khan.

2/8

Recalling Eve-Teasing Incident

Nimrit recalled how rampant eve-teasing was near her college, to the point where she wished she were a boy for safety. Once, when harassed by four boys on bikes while shopping for stationery, she stood her ground—grabbing stones and threatening to involve the police. She would often call her male friends to ensure safety. These experiences shaped her sense of fear and resilience during her early years, exposing her to the harsh realities women often face in public spaces.

3/8

Never Facing Gender Bias at Home

Despite societal challenges, Nimrit revealed she grew up in a progressive household where gender was never a limitation. Her parents eagerly hoped their first child would be a girl, and she never felt different for being one. Shared responsibilities, equal treatment, and encouragement in all her choices helped shape her confidence. She highlighted how these values were practiced consistently—even with a younger brother in the picture—creating an environment where she was never made to feel less for being a girl.

4/8

On Having Open Conversations

Nimrit praised her mother for fostering an environment of open communication. As a biology teacher, her mom addressed menstruation and bodily changes with both her and her brother—starting the conversation with her brother, in fact. This early education helped normalize topics that are often shrouded in shame or silence. Nimrit shared how these transparent discussions created a stigma-free space at home, ensuring that topics like periods and puberty weren’t awkward or hushed, but rather discussed respectfully and confidently.

On Being Shy About Intimacy

Opening up about her personal journey, Nimrit admitted she has always felt shy when it comes to her sex*ality and exploring intimacy. She attributed it to deep-rooted conditioning and body image struggles she has battled over the years. Despite efforts to understand and overcome this hesitance, she finds it difficult to express what she likes or desires. Nimrit acknowledged that in real life, letting go and being vulnerable is important—but doing so has never come easily to her.

6/8

On Being Told to Get Cosmetic Surgery

Nimrit revealed the shocking industry pressure she faced early in her career. Someone had suggested she undergo a breast enhancement surgery—a remark she politely deflected at the time, responding with a diplomatic “I’ll think about it.” Reflecting on the incident, she pointed out how unfair it is that such invasive comments are normalized for women, while similar critiques about male appearances are rarely voiced. The experience highlights the harsh and often gendered beauty standards actresses routinely face in showbiz.

7/8

On Taking Up Bigg Boss

After nearly 800 episodes of Choti Sardaarni, Nimrit was emotionally and mentally exhausted, battling anxiety and taking antidepressants. When Bigg Boss was offered, she initially declined—feeling unprepared and vulnerable. However, recalling her mother’s advice that opportunities don’t knock twice, she eventually agreed, encouraged by her rapport with the channel. Though hesitant, she took the leap for the experience. The show ended up being a major milestone in her career, introducing her to a wider audience.

When She Met Salman Khan

Nimrit fondly recalled meeting Salman Khan for the first time on the set of Choti Sardaarni during a film promotion. Describing him as a chill person and warm, she shared how he left a lasting impression. When she asked for a photo, he casually invited her to visit the Bigg Boss set to click one together. That interaction not only fulfilled a fan moment but also foreshadowed her own journey on the iconic reality show—a moment she now cherishes deeply.
