From learning 200 songs of Kishore Kumar for a job in Singapore to the Rs 10 Lakh cheque of The Laughter Challenge; Kapil Sharma opens up about his journey

Shehnaaz Gill and Kapil Sharma had an intriguing conversation on her show. Kapil unveiled some heartwarming stories from his personal life, how his career was shaped and more. Kapil called Shehnaaz, 'Gill Sahab' and even complimented her transformation. Take a look at what Kapil had to share about his career and personal life:

Comedian is also an artist

The comedian is also an artist, people have a habit of seeing them smiling. Till you don't do something different and show them your skills, people will not believe you. Initially, they were shocked to see me in a serious character in the film but I have garnered a lot of appreciation for the same.

I used to do serious plays before comedy

Before doing comedy on TV, I used to do theatre, youth fest and professional plays. They were all serious. Comedy, the laughter challenge and all came later. God kept making a new path for me after auditioning for the Laughter Challenge and now, I have reached here.

My father had once advised me, 'Mehnat karte raho'

In school, there used to be a saying, 'Karam hi puja hai'. I never understood this back then. But as you grow up, you realise the actual context of the saying. My father had once advised me, 'Mehnat karte raho, jitni aap pehle mehnat karoge fir aage chalke aish karoge, abhi aish karoge toh saari umar mehnat hi karte rahoge.' (Keep hustling, if you do the hard work today then you will have a better life tomorrow.) and that hit me.

I had by-hearted 200 songs of Kishore Kumar for a Rs 25,000 job in Singapore

I had gotten a job in Singapore in an Indian restaurant where I had to sing Kishore Kumar's songs and they would pay me Rs 25,000. I was all set for it, I even by-hearted 200 songs of Kishore Kumar. Then I called my mentor and spoke to him about the job. He said, 'You will go to Singapore, spend 20k and save only 5k, instead, I'll find a job for you here for Rs 10,000.' I agreed to that as all I wanted was to work. Circumstances were such that after my father's demise, I had to start working.

The Laughter Challenge changed my life

Luckily, god saved me from going in the wrong direction and I was then clear that I wanted to go on TV and Laughter Challenge happened and it changed my life. I didn't earn anything while doing the Laughter Challenge. I participated and did gain popularity. I got Rs 10 Lakh cheque when I won the show.

Flirting in The Kapil Sharma Show is scripted

That flirting in The Kapil Sharma Show is scripted. The channel had asked me to do it. You won't believe it, but after the wedding, I became quite serious and then after two kids, I was more serious about the hosting and not flirting so the channel sent me a mail that the fans are missing the flirty side. I asked them to send a copy to my wife also. Post that, I have become India's 'Romantic pakshi'.
