'Flop Show' was a satirical one by the late Jaspal Bhatti. He would touch base upon the current affairs and societal issues through wit and humour. Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi

The popular sitcom revolved around the Verma couple, played by Shafi Inamdar and Swaroop Sampat, and the latter’s unmarried and jobless brother (Rakesh Bedi). The series (1984) was a funny take on the struggles and happenings in the life of the Vermas. Karamchand

Touted as one of India’s first spy series, ‘Karamchand’, which aired in 1980s, was headlined by Pankaj Kapur. Sushmita Mukherjee played his assistant, Kitty. Pankaj played Karamchand, a detective, who in his inimitable style (and perpetually eating carrots), helped the local police solve murder cases. Dekh Bhai Dekh

The popular sitcom (1993-1994) centred around the Diwans and their three generations, staying together in their ancestral bungalow. They say families that eat together, stay together. So was the case with the Diwans. Starring Aanjjan Srivastava as a clerk and Bharati Achrekar as his dutiful wife, the series showcased the everyday struggles of simpleton Srinivas Wagle (Aanjjan), who wouldn’t compromise on his middle-class values and ethics. Raghubir Yadav played the title role and had the world at his feet, albeit in his dreams. With a formidable employer and a bossy wife, life wasn’t easy for him. So, what did he do?
