From having body images issues to staying away from screen for 5 years to do a film; Dance India Dance fame Raghav Juyal on his journey

From battling body image issues to quitting television at his peak for a shot at films, Raghav Juyal’s journey is anything but ordinary. In a chat with Yuvaa, the Dance India Dance fame performer opens up about sacrifice, ambition, self-doubt, and his bold five-year break from the spotlight to pursue his cinematic dreams on his own terms.

2/8

Brave beginnings

Raghav’s journey began with a rebellious leap of faith. “I left my board exams when I participated in Dance India Dance,” he shared. “I kept my books aside, came out of home at night, took a train, and came to Mumbai for auditions.” It was a risk many wouldn’t take, but for Raghav, it was the first brave step toward an unconventional career path that defied expectations and shaped his artistic future.

3/8

The Inner Battle

Reflecting on his early days, Raghav opened up about internal struggles. “I was very immature and going through an existential crisis. I was thin and had body image issues,” he confessed. “No one made me feel bad—it was a battle within.” Despite his rising fame, he dealt with self-doubt, constantly trying to fit into a world that seemed built for someone else. These quiet battles defined the man he would become.

4/8

TV Stardom and Its Limits

While TV brought him fame, Raghav questioned his place in cinema. “People were watching me for free on TV, so why would they pay to watch me in a film?” he asked. This self-awareness pushed him to think beyond popularity. He realized that to evolve as an artist, he needed to step away and rebuild from scratch—a decision many wouldn’t dare take at the peak of their career.

5/8

Five Years in the Shadows

Determined to shift gears, Raghav walked away from the spotlight. “I had to consciously take a break of five years and be less famous,” he said. Even the makers of Dance Plus were shocked. But for Raghav, this was a necessary silence—a pause that allowed him to reinvent himself. “It’s not easy, but I had to take that chance and not be seen anywhere,” he shared.

6/8

A Risk Worth Taking

Going against the tide, Raghav embraced the unknown. “I had to take that chance and stop being seen everywhere,” he explained. “You can’t grow if you’re stuck in one place.” That decision, though risky, was rooted in purpose. He believed in carving a niche beyond dancing and hosting, and committed to becoming the kind of actor people would take seriously—one performance at a time.

7/8

Dreams Bigger Than Fame

Beyond the fame, Raghav’s motivation is personal. “I want to have all the comforts, but most importantly, I want my parents to experience flying in a private jet,” he revealed. This goal fuels his hustle and grounds his ambition. “I truly want to be present in everything I do,” he said, showing that his dreams are not just about screens and spotlights, but about giving back to those who matter most.

8/8

Reinventing with his film Kill

Raghav’s role in Kill marked a turning point. Critics praised his villainous performance, finally recognizing him as a serious actor. “I wanted to do something where people forget I was a dancer,” he shared. The film validated his five-year break and bold decisions. With Kill, Raghav reintroduced himself—not as a reality TV star, but as a versatile performer ready for the big screen.
