Sumbul Touqeer had an insightful journey in the Television Industry, the young lady began her career in reality shows and became a household name with Imlie. Now, the actress is locked inside the Bigg Boss 16 house and her performance in the show is garnering her praise.

​Raised by a single parent


Sumbul was born in Katni, Madhya Pradesh. Her parents divorced when she was six years old. Her father Hasan Touqeer is a choreographer and he wished that both his girls Sanya and Sumbul made it big in their careers and lives. For their better future, Sumbul's father had shifted to Mumbai.

​Grew interested towards Dance

Looking at her father, Sumbul and Sanya also got interested in dancing and started exploring opportunities. To help them excel, Sumbul's father brought them to Mumbai and explored more opportunities to turn dancing into their career option.

​Did Ramleela and Krishna plays in Delhi

While Sumbul was young, her father encouraged her to participate in plays and she used to take part in Ramleela and Krishna plays in Delhi. This made her realise her goal towards acting.

​Participated in Reality shows

Sumbul and Sanya began their journey into showbiz with Hindustan ka Big Star and later went on to do Dance India Dance Lil' Masters. Her audition has been viral ever since she participated.

​Television Debut with historical shows

Sumbul made her acting debut with the historical show Chandragupt Maurya with Siddharth Nigam. She then bagged Jodha Akbar and essayed the role of Mehtab in the show. She even acted in the show Ishaaro Ishaaro Mein and found a best friend in Debattama Saha.

Became a household name with Imlie

Sumbul gained popularity with Imlie since the show not only changed her life but also helped develop her as a great artist at such a young age. She demonstrated how she could not only learn a dialect for the show but also master it such that viewers could identify with her character.

Bollywood Debut with Aayushmann Khuranna

Sumbul made her Bollywood debut with the critically acclaimed film Article 15. She played a crucial role in the film and gained applause for her performance.
