Exclusive: The 50s Monalisa opens up on feeling sidelined by TV actors, hits back at Rajat Dalal and reacts to plastic surgery remarks about Nikki Tamboli

Monalisa, who was recently eliminated from 'The 50', entered the reality show with her husband Vikrant Rajpoot. The actress was quite vocal about her opinions on the show and gave her best during tasks. Monalisa joined Times of India TV for an exclusive conversation where she opened up about her journey on the show and slammed Rajat Dalal for his comments against her husband, Vikrant. She also reacted to plastic surgery comments made by a few contestants against Nikki Tamboli. (Photo: Instagram)

On her elimination

I would say that every reality show is different, as each one comes with its own unique format. The 50 was especially distinct because it brought together 50 contestants for the very first time. I had assumed that once I entered the house, I would get the chance to build new friendships and form fresh alliances. However, things turned out quite differently. After stepping inside, I felt disheartened because many contestants already shared strong bonds. Instead of small groups of three or four, there were large groups of 15–16 people. In that environment, finding my space and getting noticed the way I hoped to was extremely challenging. (Photo: Instagram)

Contestants fighting and digging out past controversies - Like Maxtern and Elvish Yadav fight

Yes, I was disappointed because the voting was done by the contestants themselves. If the audience had voted, I believe my fans would not have eliminated me so early. Also, many contestants brought their outside issues into the house, like the Elvish matter which led to fights. I did not have any problems with anyone outside, so I had nothing to carry into the house or argue about. (Photo: Instagram)

It was our first time being part of such a big reality show

It was still a great experience for both of us because it was our first time being part of such a big reality show. We are two very different individuals, and it gave us a platform to show who we truly are. Of course, I wanted to make friends, but you can only open up when your vibes genuinely match. I never wanted to feel like someone’s last option. I felt it was better to step out than stay in a space where I had to depend on others. Vikrant is still inside and playing well. Since this is also his first major reality show, he is approaching it very strategically. He is quite sharp and knows how to plan his moves carefully. (Photo: Instagram)

Felt unwelcomed by other TV actors

Yes, I felt unwelcomed. I can relate to it because something similar happened during Bigg Boss as well. At that time, I had stepped out of the Bhojpuri industry and entered a big reality show for the first time, and I felt that their existing groups of TV actors did not fully accept me. I ended up getting more visibility among the commoners instead. But here, I have been working across industries for the past seven to eight years. I have done several television shows and even delivered a hit project. Despite that, the bonding still did not happen. (Photo: Instagram)

I am still seen only through the Bhojpuri actor tag

I honestly do not know why. It sometimes feels like I am still seen only through the Bhojpuri actor tag, and that does make me feel a little disheartened. Everyone spoke nicely to each other. It wasn’t like anyone was rude, and I also behaved well with everyone. But when it came to making a real effort to build close bonds, it didn’t happen. Maybe they didn’t try much, and I didn’t either. We just had normal conversations, nothing deeper than that. (Photo: Instagram)

Rajat Dalal - That’s just his personality, he doesn’t have the courage to speak openly

I was extremely angry. I kept thinking that if Rajat had so much to say behind Vikrant's back, why didn’t he say it to my face or his face? If he had spoken openly in front of Vikrant, things would have been different. Seeing that really upset me. I also feel that when Vikrant watches it, he will be hurt. But maybe that’s just his personality. Perhaps he doesn’t have the courage to speak openly and prefers to talk behind someone’s back instead. (Photo: Instagram)

On Plastic surgery comments about Nikki Tamboli

It was completely wrong. I don’t think anyone should make such comments. Everyone has the right to present themselves the way they want — whether that’s by going to the gym, doing yoga, wearing makeup, or even choosing medical help if they wish. There’s nothing wrong with that, and it shouldn’t be taken in a negative way. If someone wants to enhance their beauty with the help of surgery or medical, there is nothing wrong in it. That’s how I see it. (Photo: Instagram)
