Exclusive - Bigg Boss 19's Ashnoor Kaur's parents on Weekend Ka Vaar bashing: It left me so emotional that I cried a lot, we couldn’t sleep that night

Bigg Boss 19 contestant Ashnoor Kaur faced host Salman Khan's bashing during the last week of Weekend Ka Vaar. The makers and host Salman drew a lot of criticism and flak from the audiences and were even accused of being biased. Now, in an exclusive chat with Times of India TV, Ashnoor Kaur's parents Gurmeet Singh and Avneet Kaur opened up about the WKV episode and also react to the 'Sursuri' incident. (Photo: Instagram)

Ashnoor's father on her conduct on the show

Ashnoor's parents: I would call it a truly proud moment, one that reflects the hard work both of us have put in. Her mother has always taught her to carry herself with dignity, and together we have tried to lead by example. Those values have clearly become a part of her nature. I can see that she treats her elders with great respect, holds firm opinions, and never resorts to foul language. At the same time, she knows exactly when and how to set boundaries, and she does it gracefully. (Photo: Instagram)

The way Ashnoor was bashed could have been handled with more sensitivity

Ashnoor's father: Watching the Weekend Ka Vaar episode was quite tough and disturbing. I understand that the makers have their creative choices to make and aim to attract more viewers, but I truly feel the way Ashnoor was bashed could have been handled with more sensitivity. As for what’s right or wrong, the audience has already made their judgment, and it’s evident from how strongly they’ve come out in support of Ashnoor. Seeing the public’s reaction after this episode says a lot about how people felt. (Photo: Instagram)

Ashnoor's mom: Honestly, Ashnoor has never watched Bigg Boss before

Ashnoor's mom: Honestly, Ashnoor has never watched Bigg Boss before. I’ve seen the show, but Ashnoor and her father have not seen Bigg Boss in the past. Ashnoor didn’t know what a confession room was, when contestants were called there, or why. So when her name came up in the episode, and Kunickaa ji stated that a certain body language was used, suggesting it might be misunderstood, Baseer advised her to go to the confession room if she felt wrongly portrayed and ask them to show her the footage. Despite being in the industry for 15 years, I’ve always been by her side

Ashnoor's mom: Since Ashnoor was unaware that such matters are typically discussed only during Weekend Ka Vaar, she understood the process only after Baseer explained it. That’s when she decided to request the confession room. What truly amazed us was how maturely she handled the entire situation. Despite being in the industry for 15 years, I’ve always been by her side, guiding and supporting her. I used to think she always needed my input before making decisions, but this time, she proved just how independent and composed she has become. (Photo: Instagram)

Ashnoor's mother on 'Sursuri' incident

Ashnoor's mother: The moment she realised that she hadn’t actually heard what Amaal had said, she immediately clarified that since she hadn’t heard it herself, she couldn’t judge or question anyone’s character. She said it was better to wait for the video first and only then share her opinion on whether it was right or wrong. She didn’t want to put blame on anyone without knowing the full truth, and that, I believe, was a very wise and mature decision on her part. But instead of being praised for not passing any judgement and in fact asking the housemates to not blame Amaal, she was bashed. Everything that happened during the task, the good moments, like how she spoke positively and gathered everyone for the task, none of that was considered. (Photo: Instagram)

Recent WKV was tough, it left me so emotional that I cried a lot

Ashnoor's mom: Instead, the focus shifted to a remark asking, “If Bigg Boss is like your Bade Papa, is this how you talk to him?” In all these 19 years of Bigg Boss, it was the very first time I’ve ever heard the term Bade Papa being used for Bigg Boss. This Weekend Ka Vaar was incredibly tough, it felt like a heavy battle for us as parents. It left me so emotional that I cried a lot, and we couldn’t sleep that night because we were deeply disturbed. That was one reason. The other was the constant repetition of that particular word he kept using, which made it even more upsetting. (Photo: Instagram)

Ashnoor has been called names like chipkali and chudail

Ashnoor's mom: Whether or not Ashnoor was directly involved, she was still asked to share her opinion and feelings about the entire sursuri incident, to explain what she thought of it. Now, in our home, the atmosphere is very different, we simply don’t use such words, nor does anyone around her. Many of those words sound inappropriate or offensive to us. That kind of language just doesn’t exist in our environment. Ashnoor has been called names like chipkali and chudail, yet she has never responded with a single abusive word. She’s incredibly strong that way. (Photo: Instagram)

No one appreciated the fact that, in six weeks, not once has Ashnoor used bad language

Ashnoor's mom: In her 21 years, she has never spoken such words, and that speaks about her upbringing. Unfortunately, none of this was highlighted. No one appreciated the fact that, in six weeks, not once has Ashnoor used bad language, not even casually. Instead, during the same episode, praise was given to Neelam and Tanya for never using foul words. Ironically, even Neelam’s friends have mentioned that she does swear a lot, yet Ashnoor — who truly doesn’t — received no acknowledgement for it. (Photo: Instagram)
