Exclusive: Bhavya Gandhi on playing Prabhas in Pushpa Impossible: I had never imagined myself in a negative role

Bhavya Gandhi who has been adored as Tapu from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah recently did an interesting cameo in Pushpa Impossible where he showcased a negative role completely out of his comfort zone. In an exclusive conversation with Times Of India TV, Bhavya got candid about his role, his experience and his plans on returning to TV. Here's what he had to say:

2/8

On his experience playing Prabhas in Pushpa Impossible

It was a wonderful experience, especially because it was a negative character. If it would have been a normal cameo, things wouldn't have been fun. This completely change made it more exciting for me. I enjoyed shooting each day with them as I was excited, 'yaar aaj wapas jaa ke kisi ki band bajani hai'.

3/8

What makes Bhavya go beyond a character like Tapu from Taarak Mehta and explore

For me, my mother's saying has kept me going, is Gujarati, but it translates to If you see something which is gigantic, you always feel that you should add to it rather than work on yourself and reach the same level. So my mother advised me to work on myself and try new things which would turn equally big.

4/8

Has always been open to daily soaps

I have always been open to Daily Soap, but I think there is a time and age for everything. Even casting directors keep telling me, 'Bhai, 30 ke baad you see how things change'. I feel that 30 would be quite late, but I think after Pushpa, people are looking at me in a different way and I did get a few offers from producers too.

5/8

Here's what will make Bhavya return to TV

If I am returning to TV, there has to be something different, that should have that spark and create magic on screen. If I do a normal show, it would be a joy ride for all till the show stays but wouldn't lead anywhere. I want to create an impact with my work and leave a lasting effect on my viewers. I am waiting for that character, the day I find it I will grab it for sure.

6/8

On trying out a negative role

I am not the person who has gone to any acting school and learnt, I have learnt my craft on the ground. All these seniors in Taarak Mehta have taught me, dekh dekh ke seekhe ya karte karte seekhe hai. Even with Pushpa's negative role, I didn't know how to go about it, but it was everyone on the sets and Karuna ji, who helped me out with my character. I had never imagined myself in a negative role but I enjoyed it.

7/8

Bhavya on TV shows turning shortlived

For me it is all about how my character is satisfying me, I would give my 100% for anything that I do. We work for our own satisfaction more than doing it for audience. I would do my job irrespective of how many people are watching it. If they like my work, they will watch everything I do.

8/8

On exploring genres

So be it comedy, serious, negative or others. I want to try all the flavours and genres and then let the audience decide what they like to watch. We shall then serve that to them.
