Kavita Chawla, homemaker who won Rs 1 crore on Kaun Banega Crorepati recently, has become a celeb in her hometown Kolhapur. Every one from her area is excited about her victory on KBC.
When we spoke to Kavita, we asked her about reality show winners becoming stars overnight and many of them fading into oblivion after a while. Kavita said, "I agree this happens with many people. And I may also be forgotten soon. But even if people forget me and my win on KBC, my family and I will never forget this for the rest of our lives. I was not on KBC to get fame. It was a dream I had and I have fulfilled it, and I am very happy about that."
Even though Kavita studied only till Class XII, she kept her interest in reading alive She shared, "One of the reasons I did that was to be on KBC. Right from the year 2000, I wanted to be part of the show. Last year too, I came on the show, but only reached the fastest finger round. This year, I have fulfilled my dream by reaching this point. Whenever I used to make my son study, I would learn along with him."
Talking about how she plans to use the prize money, she said, "Now that I have won this amount, I want to send my son Vivek abroad for further studies."
