Dipika Kakar on embracing Islam, living a low-key life with Shoaib Ibrahim; a look at the couple's throwback interview post marriage

Sasural Simar Ka co-actors Dipika Kakar and Shoaib Ibrahim fell in love with each other gradually on the sets of their show. The two lead a simple life and consider their family as the strongest pillar of their relationship. On social media, too, they are adored by many and are literally couple goals. Shoaib and Dipika, lovingly called 'Shoaika' married each other on February 22, 2018 in Maudaha city. Post that they had done a live Facebook session with ETimes TV. Shoaib and Dipika got married in Maudaha city. Talking about choosing this place over others, the actress said that there were many articles about several places chosen for our wedding but Maudaha always topped the list. Adding further, Shoaib had told us, "Maudaha is my birthplace and my parents also got married there. Therefore, I wanted to see their son's 'baraat' also go from the same lanes and the smile that we saw on their faces is priceless." Dipika stated, "It's been 2 weeks since we've returned but we are missing it very badly. And, had we married anywhere else, it wouldn't have got any better than this. We are anyway very desi." Speaking about their honeymoon, Dipika had said, "Since Shoaib was very busy with work and everything, me, along with my girl gang, decided on a place as per the budget. When I told him, he said that he needs some more time as he wants to make it very special for me. But, I did not know that this was just sugar-coated blackmailing that he was doing instead of saying that we've borne a lot of expenses. Let's just wait for some time now." I can't put the feelings in words. I have noticed the change from the day I got married. I initially thought nothing would change because Shoaib and I have been in a relationship for so long, but nothing has changed. Maybe the way I look at him, the respect towards him has grown. Dipika told us that she realised it was more than friendship between her and Shoaib. Speaking about it, she said, "When Shaoib quit Sasural Simar Ka we still met and kept in touch, but when he went to Bhopal for a month and he was completely out of sight that's when we realised that it is love. The toughest part for me was when he left to shoot in Bikaner for 40 days in 2015 that was the most difficult phase." Likewise for Shoaib, he too, had something similar to say. He said, "The same 40 days played an important role in bringing Dipika closer to my family. After I came back, I realized my mother and sister always talked about her first." (Photo: Instagram)

Speaking about this Dipika says, "I feel that when you are a celebrity you are constantly under scanner and there are people who love you, but then there are also people who try to bring you down. We have always made decisions in life only keeping our family in mind, if they are happy and fine then the rest of the world doesn't matter to us." Shoaib also believes that family is of utmost importance. He said, "We don't lead the life of a celebrity. We try to live in a very simple way. Shoaib and Dipika believe that their family plays an important role for them being in a stable relationship. She said, "My mother-in-law and sister-in-law Saba are very supportive. Ammi takes Shoaib's class as to why he is angry with me and likewise, she makes me understand if I go wrong anywhere. I think because we all live together, the family helps in strengthening our relationship. People do want to live alone, it's their opinion but I feel living in the same house with everyone around really matters for the relationship to improve. Secondly, our lifestyle also plays an important role. We don't get carried away by glamour. We love our simple lifestyle. Also, we've given a lot of time to our relationship." (Photo: Instagram)

"It's true I have done it (embraced Islam), but why and when I have done it, don't think it needs to be talked about. I think it is a very personal matter and I don't think I need to talk about it openly in front of the media. For the audience and media we are actors have always shared everything. All our happy moments we have shared with you all, but this, I think is a very personal space and I don't give anyone the permission to invade that space. Definitely, it is true and I am not denying it. I am in a very happy space and proud that I have done it for myself and my happiness.
