Debina Bonnerjee on her successful IVF journey after multiple failures: I took the call of getting one embryo transfer despite doctors requesting to go for more

Debina Bonnerjee is currently enjoying her motherhood phase with little daughter Lianna. However, throughout her pregnancy journey, Debina has spoken about all that she has faced to conceive and how she overcame it. In a recent video, Debina shared her IVF success story after multiple failures.

2/8

Having problem in conceiving

In many of her previous videos, Debina had shared about how she had problems conceiving and what all methods she pursued to get pregnant. Right from astrology to acupuncture, cupping therapy, flower therapy and finally IVF.

3/8

Getting treated within a shorter distance

Debina explained the importance of going for IVF treatment within a shorter distance from home. Despite having access to a popular doctor from a big hospital, Debina shared how tiring it was for her. “The place was very far. When you start your journey, you need to visit a doctor often. You need to take many injections. A lot of my time was spent travelling and it was tiring for me. I would suggest, find a doctor, who is nearer to you and easily accessible,” Debina said.

Advice for women delaying pregnancy

“Many times due to career, women often delay in family planning. There are many other reasons too. Many times we also don’t feel like going the family way. Our minds keep changing. Many times despite having age on side, we may face difficulty in conceiving. I would suggest, in between 20-30, freeze your eggs. That’s the first thing you should do. You wish to have a baby or not, freeze your eggs. Even I wasn’t sure I wanted to go the family way.”

5/8

Get your egg count

Debina talks about getting AMH (anti-mullerian hormone) checked – which means – number of eggs count. She says, “You get to know how many eggs you have. You only get the egg count, not the quality of eggs. You get to know of the quality after the egg extraction is done. After 37, the quality of eggs start deteriorating.”

6/8

Try to find out if body reacts to injections or medicines

“Bodies respond differently. Some body produces good quality eggs with the help of injection and some with the help of medicines. It is not in our hands. You need to tell your doctor that you wish to try both and see how your body responds. This is what happened to me. Initially, I had taken many injections. I won’t get into details but I will share what worked for me – medicines. Each body is different so don’t take stress or be tensed. Change your treatment.”

One embryo transfer is the best

I have heard from so many moms writing about their failed IVF journeys. I read about 2-5 embryos transfer. This is my opinion – one embryo transfer at a time is the best. Only in our country, I have seen this mentality of transferring many and one will click. This idea is wrong. Put one good quality embryo and that has maximum success chances. I had all research and spoken to doctors all over. Even transferring two embryos many times, didn’t work for me. It is a waste. Even if it fertilizes, there are chances of complications. It is costly too. If you are doing IVF, I know what’s the value of one embryo. So wasting it, makes no sense. Doctors asked me if I am sure. I had taken a call on this for Lianna and told the doctor to transfer one embryo.
