Biased attitude, calling-off tasks to creating ‘love angles’: 12 things that should not be repeated in Bigg Boss anymore

Bigg Boss 15 is two weeks away from the finale and before the makers plan for the next season, here are some things we just can't see repeating. For the past few years, the reality show has lost its exclusivity as everything is out in the open. With live feed on for 24*7, nothing is hidden from the audience. So why not do away with these repetitions to make it more interesting and fresh.

2/13

Getting Rakhi Sawant

Dressing up as spiderman, coming as guest, contestant… just give her the trophy. We are not taking away the fact that she is an entertainer. If bringing her every time to rake in TRP, then why not name the show after her or better give her another show?

3/13

Getting former contestants

How many times do we have to see the same faces over and over again in every seasons. For example, contestants like Vikas Gupta have played as a contestant, challenger, proxy and also guest. They come with an experience, but why not bring in a new face to make it interesting rather than boasting, ‘I have seen the game outside’, ‘I know how to play the game’, ‘I will tell you how to play the game’.

4/13

Letting contestants enter and exit like it’s a hotel

‘Bigg Boss 14 has become a chaotic hotel,’ is what former contestants shared last year. They felt that audience is seeing a different Bigg Boss show which most viewers have not been enjoying. Kavita Kaushik’s dramatic exit after violence, Aly Goni entering house as Jasmin’s support and then as a contestant, Rahul Vaidya being allowed inside the house after walking out with no interest in the show, BB14 looked like it’s a free hotel. Makers should maintain the exclusivity of the house.

5/13

Allow violence in the house for the sake of TRP

There has been a rampant misuse of privileges in the house. Getting physically violent in the house, going scot-free and getting nominated as punishment. Many times, the one engaged in a fight don’t even get punished, rather others suffer by getting nominated – reason… so that the person realises his/her mistake. Does it make sense? Bigg Boss was once considered to be a strict place, where fights, violence only resulted in elimination.

6/13

Getting exes to add tadka

If Bigg Boss was to thrive on love stories, there are many other dating reality shows, one would rather prefer to watch those. Getting exes to create drama in the house is a passé. Watching people washing their dirty linen on national TV is not cool. We are living in 2022.

7/13

Only focus on love angles for content

No doubt some contestants did find love on the show, got married and we have also seen some reality show marriages ending up in divorce. Only focusing on love angles, fans shipping them on social media… again... we would just watch a dating reality show. Even if two people have feelings for each other, let them feel it rather than getting judged by the host, other contestants, guests as if they need to get married then and there to prove their feelings for each other. Put the focus somewhere else for content.

8/13

Favouring contestants

This season has been much talked about the show focusing on one contestant – Shamita Shetty. Getting boyfriend Raqesh Bapat, already having friends from BB OTT – Nishant and Pratik, adding another friend – Neha Bhasin and then rakhi brother – Rajiv Adatia. Last year, Aly Goni was brought in because Jasmin Bhasin just won’t stop crying in the house. Time and again Bigg Boss has been discussed on social media for favouring and being biased towards certain contestants. Just treat everyone equally.

9/13

Uncouth language, unnecessary fights

It’s a cringe fest at 10.30 every night with contestants screaming and abusing their lungs out. It’s crass. Just because it is a night time show, doesn’t give the liberty to the contestants to abuse, insult, and disrespect to their free will. If violence is not accepted, uncouth language should also not be accepted. While their bad and coarse language is heavily discussed on social, contestants should also realise where they are going wrong. And the ones, who try to play the game respectfully are often shown the door, because well – you are not giving content.

10/13

Contestants being judged about their personal life

Focusing on a contestant’s outside life inside the house, is not the game. Contestants often lose the track by bringing their real life in reality house. What a person is or has done in the outside world, is not the criteria to survive in the show. Case in point, when Miesha and Ieshaan were having issues in their feelings towards each other, Rajiv Adatia was brought in to create further tension. I mean just why? Why is a contestant’s outside life so important ‘inside’ the house.

11/13

Ignoring survival tasks and performing well in Weekend Ka Vaar tasks

Bigg Boss scolded and taunted the contestants this season for annulling all the ‘Ticket to Finale’ tasks. Since Bigg Boss 14, this has been a major issue. Contestants’ main motive has been to threaten to annul a task or just refusing to play. This ‘Jo hoga woh dekha jayega’ reflects a lackadaisical attitude. It’s a game show, which you need to play, not wait for Bigg Boss’ decision. Contestants are not in kindergarten.

12/13

Deserving contestants getting sidelined

Like we said, when a person decides to play the game respectfully, calmly, the contestant is shown the door. Case in point, Jay Bhanushali and Simba Nagpal this season. Salman Khan also praised Simba’s game but unless you create ‘halla’ and scream in the game, you won’t get ‘noticed’. This is not a screaming competition.

13/13

Contestants voting out contestants

With fans and audience massively cheering, supporting and voting for the contestants, it is absolutely unjust to a contestant being voted out by another inmate. Does it mean Bigg Boss has no faith in his audience? Nominating contestants every week, taking audience votes and then not eliminating. It’s just not fair for not only the deserving contestants, but also for the audience.
