Arun Govil, widely recognized for his role as Lord Ram in the beloved TV series "Ramayan," won the Lok Sabha election from Uttar Pradesh's Meerut constituency, with the results being announced on June 4. Initial results indicated that his main competitor for the seat was Sunita Verma, the candidate from the Samajwadi Party. The actor-turned-politician Arun Govil joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on March 18, 2021.

According to data from the Election Commission of India, Arun Govil secured victory with a margin of approximately ten thousand votes. The "Ramayan" actor received 546,469 votes, surpassing Samajwadi Party candidate Sunita Verma, who garnered 535,884 votes, and Bahujan Samaj Party leader Devvrat Tyagi, who obtained 87,025 votes.

Arun Govil is a renowned actor, who is best known for his portrayal of Lord Rama in the iconic television series "Ramayan," which aired in the late 1980s and was produced by Ramanand Sagar.
