Archana Puran Singh recalls how husband Parmeet considered separation amid problems in marriage; says, “There was no physical and emotional intimacy”

Archana Puran Singh and Parmeet Sethi often share details about their personal lives, including their marriage and kids. The couple once again shared a YouTube video where they spoke about the problems they faced in their marriage and what made them stay together. Here’s a look:

2/7

How Archana and Parmeet’s life looked in their 30s and 40s

Parmeet shared, “During our mid-30s to mid-40s, we had common goals. Our romance had changed. The love you share becomes a common purpose, whether it’s your child or a shared dream. Our main goal became giving our child a good family and a good life. We wanted to save for education, plan properly, and build a secure future. We would often say, ‘We have to make a bigger house.’ At that time, buying a home was a big challenge managing finances and planning everything.”

3/7

When Parmeet mentioned divorce

Archana revealed how she wanted two bungalows and that’s when Parmeet mentioned divorce. However, he always supported her. She shared, “After the first bungalow, we went in for the house where we are living right now. I have always taken such decisions, and he has supported me, though reluctantly at times. At first, he said, ‘Are you crazy? Two bungalows? We’ll end up getting divorced!’ I said, ‘If I have to buy, I will buy two.’ Then I even said, ‘Let’s take a third.’ He replied, ‘Now divorce will definitely happen!’ But despite all that, you supported me every time.”

4/7

When they started their production company together

Archana shared, “If you have a common goal, instead of going in different directions, you start traveling parallel together. That is the most important thing.” Parmeet added, “But it can also become toxic. We shut down the production company because our bedroom had turned into an office. There were many times when we didn’t agree creatively ‘It should be done this way.’ ‘No, not like this.’ We realized working together was becoming almost impossible.”

5/7

“Our children kept us together”

Archana shared, “What kept us together were our children the common project we shared, whom we both love very much. Neither of us wanted a family break-up. We both come from solid families, not broken homes. Our role model was an everlasting marriage that no matter what happens, we stay together. At that time, our love became about surviving together. Sometimes, love becomes just surviving together.”

6/7

When they faced problems in their marriage

Parmeet shared, “There was a sense of disappointment toward each other. Like, ‘This is not the person I trusted with my whole life.’ Maybe you felt, ‘Whom did I marry?’ All these things had an impact. Even our physical proximity reduced drastically. It became almost absent. I kept asking myself, ‘Why? Something has changed.’”

Archana on lack of physical and emotional intimacy

Archana said, “For me, emotional intimacy had almost become zero from your side. And emotional intimacy is extremely important. Until that exists, physical intimacy cannot happen. When I felt that emotional gap, I was not inclined toward physical intimacy. That was my truth.”
