Apurva and Shilpa Agnihotri’s difficult journey to parenthood after 18 years of wait: We had stopped sharing our progress with friends and completely surrendered to God
Celebrity couple Apurva Agnihotri and Shilpa became parents to little Ishaani (Ishu) after 18 year of wait. The couple welcomed their baby girl through adoption last year in December, but she was born in October. The couple, who has taken up vlogging, to give a glimpse of their life, opened up about what they went through during those 18 years of wanting to become parents.
Surrendering to God
A lot of people are hurting and in pain in this entire process. We had waited for 18 years for this miracle to happen. There have been numerous ups and downs and failures in all these years. We had completely surrendered to God.
Being grateful about the things they have
Apart from surrendering ourselves to God, we had stopped complaining about what others have in their life. We started telling ourselves that out of 10 things, God has given us 6 things, can we not be thankful for that? We started focusing on what we have rather than what we don’t have. We figured a way to thank God for the things we have.
We thought it is our waiting period
It takes you to a dark space because you feel a vacuum. We just prayed to Him to bless us when our time is right. We thought maybe it was our waiting period to experience pain.
Staying away from the negativity
In between, when Apurva and I were trying, we stopped sharing it with people. Everybody’s intent in their heart is your well-being. But when things don’t happen the way it is supposed to happen, those same people will keep asking you about why it was unsuccessful. When you say that it is, ‘negative’, you feel more at despair.
Patiently waiting through the process
Try things in silence for your well-being. When you succeed, it will automatically reach out to people. The feeling of things not being positive, used to make me feel worse. I would just share with my husband and my mother.
‘Ishu is God’s miracle’
Ishu is God’s miracle and we have no contribution. We left everything to God. Prayers change everything. You will only be judged for your karma and nothing else matters.
A dream fulfilled after 18 years
Previously speaking to BT after bringing their daughter home, the couple said, “I always had a dream to get married and become a mother to a little girl. However, we had to wait for 18 years to become parents. We wanted to be parents a long time ago, but it took a while and we are very happy today.”
