Anita Hassanandani in Naagin 4 to Monalisa in Nazar 2: Here are the new age vamps on Indian television

Move over Urvashi Dholakia’s Komolika act, the new age vamps on Indian TV have grabbed the eyeballs with their vicious acts. And mind you, some of the actresses have also played the lead actress in TV shows. They are confidently breaking the stereotypes with the grey shades. Take a look:

2/8

Anita Hassanandani as Vishakha

Once a leading actress, Anita has been playing a female shape-shifting serpent named Vishakha Khanna in Ekta Kapoor’s fantasy thriller Naagin for two seasons now. She has wowed all with her sensuous style statement and a make-belief antagonist in Naagin 4.

3/8

Monalisa as Mohana and Madhulika

This Bhojpuri and Bengali actress have won hearts with her Daayan act in Nazar. She has received much appreciation for her portrayal of an evil witch in the show. In the second season of Nazar, the actress' look is loosely inspired by The Wolverine and is once again ready to win hearts.

4/8

Kishwer Merchant as Dr. Nishi Sippy

Earlier this character was played by Tannaz Irani and Kishwer Merchant replaced her in Kahaan Hum Kahaan Tum. While previously the character was shown to have a good heart, Kishwer’s entry totally changed plot. She is the evil of all and making all dance on her finger. The entire show is running on her commands.

5/8

Simran Sachdeva as Harleen Kaur Gill

She is not the quintessential vamp, but Choti Sardarni’s Simran Sachdeva aka Harleen Kaur Gill is smartly playing the character. The family doesn’t know about her intentions but Harleen knows how to manipulate everyone’s mind.

6/8

Hina Khan and Aamna Sharif as Komolika

Hina Khan carved her own niche as Komolika in Kasautii Zindagii Kay and Aamna Sharif is taking her league forward. While Hina and Urvashi had made quite a mark as Komolika, once a leading lady Aamna has not be able to impress much.

7/8

Ruhi Chaturvedi as Sherlyn

Ruhi Chaturvedi garnered attention playing the evil Sherlyn in Kundali Bhagya. One of the most-watched shows, Ruhi as Sherlyn has been successfully creating havoc in Karan and Preeta’s life.

8/8

Sangita Ghosh as Pisachini

Divya Drishti is coming to an end this weekend, but Sangita Ghosh’s ‘P silent sachini’ won’t be forgotten. Her quirkiness, style and dialogue delivery have been the topic of discussion among fans.
