Acting changed me in ways I didn’t expect: Ranveer Brar
For Ranveer Brar, acting was never on his mind. The popular chef says, “I never wanted to be an actor. In fact, I wanted to direct or edit something and even trained as an editor at the New York Film Academy. But then destiny had other plans.”
In recent years, he has been part of projects like The Buckingham Murders and Modern Love, and is now looking forward to his next with Mona Singh. He shares, “I’m enjoying this phase and now realise why people get addicted to acting. You get to explore characters, thoughts and perspectives. It has changed me as a person in ways I didn’t expect. There are times when I sit back and think about how all this happened because I didn’t plan it... I’m more of a person who goes with the flow.”
Talking about balancing both his professions, Ranveer, who is also currently judging MasterChef India, says, “When you’re a chef, you’re always thinking about food. There’s a certain linearity of thought. Acting dismantled that. It broke those layers for me. It was freeing to be somebody else. Initially, I wasn’t sure if people who’ve always seen me as a chef would accept me as an actor, but the response was so good that it encouraged me to do more.”
